A treatment log for your apiary: what you treated and when you can harvest again

You record the treatment during the inspection and BeePulse enters it in the log for you, with the date until which you must not harvest honey. You count varroa, see whether the treatment worked and print the register with a line for your signature. Recording treatments is free on every plan.

Free forever · No card · Web, iPhone and Android

The problem: treatments get forgotten and dates get mixed up

In summer you treat a few hives, in autumn others, and the notebook ends up with torn-out lines and dates that are hard to read. When the honey reaches the jar you need to be sure: which product, in which hive, when it came out, and whether the waiting period is over.

In a register that fills itself in, there is no notebook to reread. You record the treatment once, at the hive, during the inspection, and it appears in the log by apiary and by hive, in date order.

How to record a treatment: one answer in the inspection

There is no separate form. A treatment is one of the things you tick during an inspection, on the phone, at the hive and even without signal. The inspection is saved on the phone and sent when the signal returns.

  1. Start an inspection

Tap the + button, choose “Quick Log” and pick the hive (or scan the QR code on the hive).

  2. On “What did you do?” choose “Treatment”

Write the “Product name”, choose the method (“Strips”, “Vaporization”, “Drizzle”, “Dust” or “Other”) and, if you like, the “Dose (optional)”.

  3. Save

Tap “Next” to the end, then “Save Inspection”. If you did not treat, skip it: every row is optional.

  4. Or say it out loud

In a voice inspection, a treatment you mention is recorded the same way (a Pro feature).

The treatment log in the web app

Open “Treatment log” in the sidebar. Everything you recorded on the phone is already there, with no second round of work. You can also add a treatment by hand, for example one copied from your notebook, with “Add treatment”.

  • Date, hive, product, method and dose on every row
  • The varroa count from that treatment
  • How long the waiting period runs: “No harvest until
”
  • After the date, the row says “Withdrawal ended”
  • Edit or delete a row from its actions; the inspection it came from stays
  • One log for every apiary in the account

The waiting period, worked out for you

On each treatment you enter “No-harvest (weeks)”, from the label of the product you used. BeePulse adds the treatment date to the number of weeks and shows the day until which you must not harvest honey from that hive. No counting on your fingers and no hunting for the date in a notebook.

The app does not choose the product or set the period: you take those from the product label and your vet’s advice. It keeps the count.

Varroa: count, treat, check that it worked

The “Varroa” page of the web app keeps every hive’s counts in one place, with a coloured verdict: green OK, yellow Watch, red Treat. The thresholds start from guide values common in beekeeping guidance, and you can change them to match the advice you follow.

  1. Count

Choose the method: a wash with alcohol or detergent (about 300 bees), powdered sugar, or natural fall on a board. Enter the mites you found; the app works out the percentage.

  2. Start a treatment

If the verdict is Treat, the button takes you to the treatment log with the form open and the hive already chosen.

  3. I finished the treatment

When you take the strips out or give the last dose, press the button. After 14 days it is worth counting again with the same method; the date shows in the Recount column.

  4. Did it work? See the efficacy

BeePulse compares the count from before with the first one after and shows how much the infestation fell (Pro). Below 90% the result shows in red.

Print or export the register

The page has the buttons “Print”, “Export treatments as CSV” and “Register PDF”. The PDF is a register ready to print: number, date, apiary, hive, product, method, dose, varroa count and the date until which you must not harvest, with a line for your signature and the date.

What is free and what is Pro

On the free Start plan you record treatments, see the log and the waiting period, count varroa and have each hive’s history. Pro adds exporting the register (PDF and CSV), the recount reminder on your phone and the efficacy of each treatment. Pro costs €60/year + VAT, and you get 15 days of Pro when you sign up.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay to keep a treatment log?

No. Recording treatments, the log in the web app, the waiting period and varroa counts are free on the Start plan. Exporting the register (PDF and CSV), the recount reminder and efficacy are in Pro.

How do I know when I can harvest honey again?

On each treatment you enter the number of “No-harvest” weeks from the product label. The log shows “No harvest until
” on the row and, after that date, “Withdrawal ended”.

Can I record a treatment at the hive without signal?

Yes. The treatment is part of the inspection, and the inspection is saved on the phone and sent by itself when the signal returns. It then appears in the log in the web app.

Is the PDF register an official form?

No. It is a printable register of your own data with a line for your signature, not an official government form.

Which varroa counting methods can I use?

Three: a wash of a bee sample with alcohol or detergent, powdered sugar, and natural fall on a board. The app works out the percentage or the mites per day and shows a coloured verdict.

Does the app tell me which product and dose to use?

No. You choose the product and dose from the product label and your vet’s advice. BeePulse records what you did and when, and keeps the waiting-period count.
